 In a quest to keep learning and growing as we follow Christ’s teaching in Matthew 25, we are going to start sharing information about building congregational vitality, dismantling structural racism, and eradicating systemic poverty in our weekly email and on Facebook. These won’t necessarily be calls to action, issues the session is discussing, or even directly connected to the church. They will be invitations to learn more and stay engaged. This week we invite you to learn more about the Black church. In this 2 episode series (4 hours total) Henry Louis Gates, Jr. talks about the origins of Black church and its continued influence as the spiritual, cultural, and political epicenter of the African American community.
