The recipient for our Christmas Eve offering is NETWorks Cooperative Ministries. NETWorks offers a food pantry, grocery alliance (co-op), financial assistance, and a clothing closet to our neighbors in the Northlake, Embry Hills, and Tucker area. This offering is going to support their move to their new facility on Cowan Road in Tucker.

Wednesday, December 21, 6:30 pm, Courtyard

On the longest night of the year, we will pause to honor those who are facing hardships. Through scripture, prayer, silence, and candle lighting, we will bear witness to the light that has come and is coming into the world. This brief service will offer space to lament and grieve the many losses we’ve experienced in this year and years past. All are welcome. The service will take place outside in the courtyard barring inclement weather. We will have some chairs set up, but if you have lawn chairs and would like to bring them, please do.

Firepit Fellowship The Engagement Ministry is holding a s’mores firepit fellowship at 7:00 pm following the Longest Night Worship Service. Come make s’mores and enjoy the company around warm fires.

Sunday, December 11, 4:00 pm, Sanctuary Plan to attend, and bring your friends and neighbors for Light of Grace’s performance of The Christmas Story. The angels will dance – the choir will sing and sign – and the Scriptures will be recited by the members of Light of Grace, a ministry for persons with Special Abilities.

Through December 18th, we are collecting new underwear for the men of Clifton Sanctuary Ministries. Items most needed are men’s white undershirts and underwear (many prefer briefs) in sizes M-XXL. Socks are not needed at this time. Bring donations to the tree in the narthex, or to the collection bin in the breezeway by the church office door, through December 18th. Please see the article in the December Lamplighter for the story of how this ministry began

Not Carrying it Alone

Sunday, December 11, 11:15 am, Youth Lounge Join your St. Andrews community for a time of reflection and remembrance as we seek to bear the weight of grief collectively. You are invited to bring one or more artifacts that represent your grief. It could be any object that symbolizes something or someone you’ve lost recently. While no words are required, those who wish to talk about their experiences will be invited to do so. In sharing, remembering, and lamenting, we hope to embrace the reminder that no one is carrying their burdens alone.

“Socks and Skivvies”Beginning December 4th, we will collect new underwear for the men of Clifton Sanctuary Ministries. Items most needed are men’s white undershirts in sizes m-xxl.

Our members from Church of the New Covenant brought this tradition and we’ve enthusiastically supported it for a couple of years. Clifton is near to our hearts. Every fourth Sunday we provide the evening meal for the clients there. Read more about them and explore other ways you can help.https://www.cliftonsanctuary.com/

A wonderful place to view holiday decorations, visit beautifully decorated homes, and have some great food is Madison, Ga. Pat Baker is putting together a day trip to Madison for their Holiday Tour of Homes on Friday, December 2nd. The tours begin at 10:00 am so we’ll be leaving from the church at 9:00 am. The tour this year is sponsored by the Madison Morgan Cultural Center and includes 5 historic homes. Some are in walking distance from the cultural center and others will require a short drive. For those who can’t walk, we will have a car available. The cost is $30.00 for the tour. We plan to eat lunch in Madison at Farmview before returning to Tucker. If you want to go, please reserve your seat by emailing Pat at pat@sapctucker.org before November 30th. Payment will be due on the day of the trip

We will take our annual offering in worship on December 4th. This offering supports leadership development for communities of color and Presbyterian church workers in their time of need. Please put Christmas Joy on the memo line of your check, or in the notes if you are giving online.
