In sure and certain hope of the Resurrection through our Lord Jesus Christ, St. Andrews’ congregation extends sympathy to the family of Rev. Dr. Richard A. Dodds, who died on February 18,
Dick Dodds was the pastor of St. Andrews from 1964-1973. The Dodds family would appreciate your prayers. Cards may be sent to Betty Dodds:  300 Rockaway Rd. Apt. 327, Peachtree City, GA 30269.  Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord; they rest from their labors and their works follow them.

Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man is a video series led by Emmanuel Acho (former NFL linebacker), designed to create a safe place to have the uncomfortable conversations about race that many people have never been able to have. In this 10 minute episode, Chip & Joanna Gaines (of Fixer Upper and Magnolia fame) sit down and have an uncomfortable conversation about teaching their kids to “see color” and Emmanuel Acho is asked “if he’s afraid of white people.” Click here to see this episode.

In a quest to keep learning and growing as we follow Christ’s teaching in Matthew 25, we are going to start sharing information about building congregational vitality, dismantling structural racism, and eradicating systemic poverty in our weekly email and on Facebook. These won’t necessarily be calls to action, issues the session is discussing, or even directly connected to the church. They will be invitations to learn more and stay engaged.  This week we invite you to learn more about the Black church. In this 2 episode series (4 hours total) Henry Louis Gates, Jr. talks about the origins of Black church and its continued influence as the spiritual, cultural, and political epicenter of the African American community. Tune in to PBS or stream The Black Church: This Is Our Story, This Is Our Song starting Tuesday. February 16 and 17 at 9:00 pm. https://www.pbs.org/weta/black-church/

Pat Baker’s Caregiver Support Group will meet next Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. February 16th via Zoom. The group is open to anyone who has the responsibility of caring for another either locally or long distance. It is not only open to church members so feel free to share the information with other family members or friends. Click here for the Zoom link; Meeting ID: 846 0764 2017
