Love God. Love Neighbor. Love Creation. The Worship, Mission and Caring for Creation ministries invite you to join us for our our drive-through event on Sunday, February 14, from 1-3 p.m. in the sanctuary parking lot.   ♥ Love God We will have packets with printed resources for Lent. ♥ Love Neighbor We are collecting diapers for MDM. ♥ Love Creation We are collecting household batteries to be recycled.   ♥ We have great resources to share with you: Lenten devotionals, an at-home service for Ash Wednesday, updated church directories and more. ♥ The diapers will go to groups affiliated with Memorial Drive Ministries that help refugee families in our area. All sizes of diapers are needed. Their goal is to collect 500 packages of diapers. ♥ Caring for Creation (C4C) helps focus us on small and large, simple and challenging ways to remove pollutants and care for God’s world. Batteries are considered hazardous because they contain heavy metals. Please bring sealed/dry cell batteries that weigh 2 lbs or less, are no larger than 5 inches in any dimension and that have no visible leakage or corrosion.   Those who are unable to participate in the Lenten pick up event may contact Mary Evans, 770-493-9489, tmevans@bellsouth.net to receive delivery of Lenten Resources and pick up of batteries on the afternoon of February 14. When signing up please provide address, phone number, and where the batteries to be picked up will be located. Church members who deliver will either call or knock on the door to indicate their presence.

It’s almost Valentine’s Day and time for the SAPC Presbyterian Women to let our college students and deployed military personnel know that we are thinking about them. We’re working on creative ways for how best to do that during the pandemic but, if you have a college student or deployed military person in your family and would like us to reach out to them this year, please send their name(s), mailing address(es), and email address(es) to Margaret Ellingson at mwellingson@gmail.com or call 770-891-0858 by Monday, February 8th.

If you’ve given us an address before, please let us know if we should keep it on our list, update it or remove it.

Older Adult and Caregiver Ministries Announcement Pat Baker recently acquired 30 copies of the book Journeying with Jeanette- A love story in the land and language of Alzheimer’s by Robert Crick with Brandelan Miller. This is a ministers’ account of his 10-year journey with his wife as he cared for her from the beginning stages of dementia to the end of her life. It is very touching and heart-felt. The author was able to get a publisher to donate the publishing of his story and he wants to give his book away to anyone who would like a copy. Pat is offering them to anyone in the congregation, or to your friends and/or family. There are a few copies at the church and she has lots at home. Please email her at pat@sapctucker.org if you would like to have a copy of this book.

Church Directories We are updating our church directory. If you have new contact information or would like to include a new picture, please email Gretchen in the office by Monday, February 8th, office@sapctucker.org

Sunday, February 7 It is the Fifth Sunday after Epiphany and we will celebrate worship and communion in our homes via Facebook Live and YouTube. You are invited to have your own bread and juice with you while you watch (or as close as you can get with what you have at home), so you can share communion around a great big virtual table. We will have Sunday School before and fellowship after worship on Zoom conference. We will post the recording of our worship service on our website. The Rev. Dr. Diane Givens Moffett will be guest preaching; her sermon is entitled Seeing Jesus. Our hymns for Sunday will be Soon and Very Soon and When the Lord Redeems the Very Least. Our scripture passages are Matthew 25:31–46 and Matthew 5:3-12. For a copy of Sunday’s bulletin, click here.

Ministry Spotlight: Matthew 25 in the PC(USA): A bold vision and invitation   Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?’ And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’ Matthew 25:37-30
Sunday, February 7th we will focus on the Matthew 25 initiative in the Presbyterian Church (USA). In our regular morning worship service on YouTube and Facebook we will have The Rev. Dr. Diane Givens Moffett, President/Executive Director of the Presbyterian Mission Agency, as our guest preacher. Other leaders from around the denomination will be leading other parts of worship along with our own St. Andrews staff.   Then, in the afternoon at 1:30 p.m. you are invited to a town hall gathering on Zoom to learn more about the Matthew 25 initiative and what it could mean for St. Andrews to officially become a part of it. The town hall will be about an hour long. We’ll provide general information about the program, share some of the work the session has already done in exploring this initiative, have time for questions, and talk about the possible next steps.   Matthew 25:31-46 calls all of us to actively engage in the world around us, so our faith comes alive and we wake up to new possibilities. The Matthew 25 vision encourages congregations to act boldly and compassionately to serve people who are hungry, oppressed, imprisoned or poor. We’ll plan to have more gatherings as we discern and focus on this call.
