Volunteer

Yes, we have a beautiful campus, but we do need people willing to ride a mower during the growing season. And boy would we love people with green thumbs to help with flower beds to keep them pretty and free of weeds. You or a group you belong to can adopt a flower bed and beautify your part of the world.   If you love to work in the garden or ride a big mower, email the church office and put “Lawn and Garden” in the  subject  line.

Wednesday afternoons during the Staff Meeting, you can be a big help by answering the phone and the door.
Fridays – Help put the Sunday bulletin together. This isn’t a regular process because it’s only when we have an insert. You would check in with  the Office Administrator to see if help is needed
On-Call – Volunteers to help with big mailings. This isn’t regular, but it would be great to have some people to call who can help.
Substitute – When the Office Administrator needs to take a day or a vacation, it would be great for a volunteer to help out in the office. This person would need a knowledge of computers and other office machinery, and there is a “how-to” manual to help get you though.

Any techie can volunteer to help with IT, and the Stewardship Committee would love some office skills to help their efforts.

If you can help with any of these, email the office with “Office” in the Ministry line and specify which duty fits your time and talents.

Worship runs in a Presbyterian church on the volunteers who keep all the moving pieces moving smoothly. That doesn’t always happen with us, but we try. We always need volunteers who would like to add their time and talents in any way, great or small, to our worship service.

• Ushers – This group is the back bone of worship. They are there to open and ready the church, to distribute bulletins and greet congregants and visitors, to collect the offering and to make sure the money gets safely to the office, to clean up and lock up after the service. Ushers have a specified week to serve during the month, so you would serve with a group you would get to know.
• Lay Readers – We have training yearly for people who want to read scripture during the service. You would have a specific Sunday assigned to you and a specific scripture with sample Prayers of Illumination to use during the service.
• Communion – Ordained members can serve Communion, but anyone can have the opportunity of preparing the elements before the service.
• Worship Tech – We have an AV team who have had training on our console in the back of the sanctuary. You can learn to run a sound board, record the sermons and handle video needs for each service.
• Funeral Guild – Worship has a dedicated group who serve at funerals by opening and preparing the sanctuary. They are there to welcome and help people and family at this difficult time. After the service, the guild members clean up and close the sanctuary.

If you can help in any way, put “Worship” in your subject line of your email and specify what you would like to do.

This is a church that loves to make a joyful noise. We have adult choir, bell choirs, youth choirs, children choirs, and we are always growing our music program. Plus, if you play an instrument, we would love to know.

• Help on social media like Facebook and publicity in general
• Do you have a short attention span and want to help occasionally at big events.  We have an annual Barbeque’ and you can join the crew who roasts pig all night, or pull pork for the dinner.  Other times you can help cook or serve at our luncheons (we are a church that loves to eat), clean tablecloths and towels or be a part of the set up and or clean crew (and we have a biannual mission event called Rise Against Hunger.  We prepare 10,000 meals for use around the world.) And once a year we hold a Back to School Carnival in August for our school kids and every kid in the area.  We have lots of fun jobs that day!

• Work in the nursery or toddler room, assisting paid workers (quarterly or less)
• Teach Sunday School
• Work at the annual Easter Egg Hunt
• Volunteer for the Annual Back to School Carnival
• Join En-Core volunteers and be involved with our St. Andrews School

• NETWorks Co-op Ministry – Donate food or your time
• Re-Loom – always needs people to help prepare fabric for weaving
• Clifton Sanctuary (always need people to cook, take the food to the shelter and to serve)
• Alliance for Children Everywhere – This is our monthly “Change for Children”.  We need money counters to make sure we keep our donations in order.
