Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord; they rest from their labors and their works follow them. St. Andrews Presbyterian Church

Easter Quickly Approaches Once again St. Andrews welcomes Easter with our early morning Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Breads fellowship. We welcome your help with either. Discounted copies of the book are available for $15 on Sunday mornings, or in the church office. Email office @sapctuker.org to reserve your copy.

The 39ers is a group of folks that like to meet and eat and have fellowship together and everyone is welcome to join them next Tuesday, March 26th at Los Hermanos on Hugh Howell Road in Tucker

Early Easter Sunday morning after Worship in the Garden we’ll gather in the Meeting Room at 9:00 for pastries, cookies, coffee, and conversation before heading to our morning worship service. Everyone’s invited to contribute, and if you’d like to help manage the buffet contact Jeni Allen, 770-491-0828, or LaVerne Byas-Smith.

From the Pastor – Holy Week As we continue through the season of Lent, I hope you will join us for our special worship services during Holy Week. The week begins with Palm and Passion Sunday on March 24th. In worship, we’ll wave palms and shout “Hosanna!” as we remember Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. We will celebrate the sacraments of baptism and communion and then turn toward the passion of Good Friday.   Maundy Thursday Thursday, March 28th at 6:30 p.m., Heffner Hall We will gather around tables to worship, share a meal, and remember the acts of Jesus during Holy Week. Our worship will include prayer, scripture, songs, a simple dinner, and the celebration of the Lord’s Supper woven together. We call this day “Maundy Thursday,” from the Latin word mandatum, which means “mandate” or “command.” We remember that is the day when Jesus gave his disciples a new commandment to love one another. All ages are welcome.   Good Friday March 29th at 7:30 p.m., Sanctuary As a nod to the traditional “Stations of the Cross,” this service invites you to walk “the way of sorrows” to the cross through the eyes and experiences of one of Jesus’ closest disciples, Peter. This service will continue highlighting Peter’s role in the crucifixion narrative as we follow Jesus to his death with Peter as our companion. By focusing on Peter, we are invited to imagine how we might have acted and behaved had we been there as one of Jesus’ followers and friends. Following the narratives from John 13-19, we will engage, confess, and lament through prayer, scripture, reflection, silence, and song. When the service is over, it will still be incomplete until Easter. You will be invited to continue the journey through Holy Week as you depart. You will be given prayers and suggested scripture readings to guide your devotions between Good Friday and Easter. Then, you are invited to return on Easter morning to celebrate the glorious resurrection.   Easter Sunday – March 31 8:30 am Worship in the Garden You are invited to gather in the courtyard early in the morning for an outdoor Easter worship service. In the event of rain, we will gather under the shelter of the covered breezeway.   9:00 am Easter Fellowship & Egg Hunt, Courtyard Easter Breads is a St. Andrews tradition sharing fellowship, coffee, and pastries on Easter morning. We will also have crafts and activities for the children, including an egg hunt. Please plan to join us, and if you are able, bring your favorite pastry or bread to share. Flowering of the Cross, Courtyard We invite you to bring flowers from home or your yard, make a flower, or use the flowers available at the church to adorn the cross in the courtyard. This sixth-century tradition of flowering the cross is an especially striking and beautiful way to symbolize the new life that emerges from Christ’s death on Good Friday.   10:00 am Worship We’ll celebrate the resurrection and sing “Alleluia” in worship together, meeting in the Sanctuary and on YouTube Live. We hope you will join us for Holy Week and Easter. -Camille
