St. Andrews member, Earl Meeks, is featured in The Initiative for Affordable Housing’s newsletter for making house calls to keep the looms at Weaverhouse in working order.  These looms support re:loom, a non-profit that employs and empowers homeless and low-income individuals through weaving beautifully-designed recycled materials.

Earl, who has designed and made beautiful art works for St. Andrews, uses his skills once a week to regularly check on and fix the many looms used for the re:loom employment program. This retired Georgia Tech physics professor is truly a renaissance man.

Earl is a wonderful woodworker and has carved beautiful handcrafted pieces not only for St. Andrews, but the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, as well as commissioned pieces.

We have a group that supports re:loom with recycled rags.  Look for announcements in the bulletin and the weekly St. Andrews email for how to join the church re:loom group.

For more information, go to re:loom, and to find out more about The Initiative for Affordable Housing here.  St. Andrews has supported and encouraged both these missions since their beginnings.
