Training for New Acolytes

St. Andrews loves its acolytes!  Our tradition for years is for an acolyte to bring in the light of the Holy Spirit at the beginning or worship and to lead us out with the light at the end of worship.

We always need new acolytes so if you know a child, six and up, who would like to train as an acolyte to see if he or she would want to serve, please let Phyllis Bearden of the Worship Ministry know.  Training will be this Sunday, June 7, 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.  Any currently serving acolytes can attend as a refresher or to help the new recruits.

One new part of the acolyte program will be to let the youngest acolyte be accompanied by an experienced acolyte for as long as he or she prefers that way.  All of us know it can be intimidating to be lighting the candles in front of everyone, even if every adult there just wants to reach out and hug them.

Acolytes are given a quarterly schedule and typically serve as an acolyte two times in a quarter.
