On Thursday, March 24th at 6:00 p.m. we will have a different kind of worship service for Maundy Thursday. We will gather on the lawn, weather permitting (in Heffner Hall if raining), to worship, share a meal, and remember the acts of Jesus during Holy week.  We will begin with opening words of worship. Then we will share a simple meal together around tables, like Jesus did with his friends. After we eat we’ll listen to scripture and a meditation on remembering. We call this day “Maundy Thursday”, from the Latin word mandatum, which means “mandate” or “command.” We remember that is the day when Jesus washed his disciples’ feet and commanded them to love one another. All are invited to participate in the footwashing, but it is not required. After we have heard the word and washed each other’s feet we will share the Lord’s Supper, which was first instituted by Jesus on the night he was betrayed.  This worship service will be casual, with music led on guitar.  This will be a child-friendly service, but childcare will be available.
