Journey Men Night Shelter is one of our missions at St. Andrews. We serve the men dinner on the first Friday of each month. (Tonight we are having a Fourth of July picnic with them), and it’s always a fun night.
The following is an opportunity to serve Journey in other capacities or to find something for a young person to do this summer:
On Thursday, July 14, Journey will be hosting a volunteer meeting for Journey Men’s Shelter and you’re invited.
We are not only one of the best programs in Atlanta for men experiencing homelessness; we are also a single-family dwelling with 20+ ‘siblings,’ and THAT creates a lot of projects!
The residents of our program manage the chores that become necessary with the heavy foot-traffic and activity within our walls. We are calling on our volunteers to help us with the extra upkeep that is familiar to most households — painting, yard work, gutters, cleaning out closets, minor repairs, and the decorator touches that will make our shelter feel more like a home.
Perhaps manual labor is not your thing, and your real muscle is education, life-readiness empowerment, or your ability on a computer. There are an equal many tasks available that are perfect for a volunteer with these skills. Even if you’re not entirely comfortable on a computer, we’re certain that after one hour of training you’ll be a tremendous help to the administrative side of our business — data entry, filing, database management, and more. Please don’t be shy.
Last but certainly not least, there’s nothing more powerful than collective brainpower to make transformative change. By bringing together many minds with knowledge of our program, the city we live in, and the resources that exist — we can come up with creative ideas to generate the funds needed to expand our program. This will, in turn, become new and exciting ways to get involved.

INTERESTED VOLUNTEERS WILL GATHER TO LEARN ABOUT THE PROJECTS THAT ARE AVAILABLE. TOURS WILL BE OFFERED FOR THOSE WHO HAVE YET TO VISIT THE SHELTER, AND ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE INVITED TO JOIN US AND OUR DINNER PROGRAM VOLUNTEER THAT EVENING FOR DINNER WITH THE RESIDENTS.
