G2G Kids and WOW Starts Sept. 7

The summer is over.  The kids are back in school, and it’s time for our Glory to God Kids (G2G Kids) to kick into high gear.  We will meet Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. in Heffner Hall for a kid-friendly meal, followed by our worship arts workshops to kick off our year.  Parents and adults will participate in the What’s On Wednesdays (WOW) while the children get creative.

The big change this year is that G2G and WOW meet the first and third Wednesdays of the month.  We still have the creative workshops for kids pre-K to fifth grade that include music and singing, visual arts, acting and a little dancing here and there.  Steve Sankey, our new Associate Pastor for Children and Youth, is having a blast planning some great activities that integrate creative projects with learning about our faith.  It’s going to be a great year for all.

Plus, we always need volunteers to be Table Parents, Shepherds, Art Assistants, Meal Providers, and Clean-up Crews.  What do these volunteers do? I’m glad you asked:

• •Table Parents – sit, talk and be silly with your group of kids at the kids’ dinner.   6 – 6:30 p.m.
• •Shepherds – take your group to different workshops and help teacher. 6:30 to 7:30
• •Fun Game person – Help collect kids from SAS (St. Andrews School) at 5:30 and play and run around with them until 6:00
• •Kid Food Person – Help plan, prepare and serve the kid-friendly supper to G2G Kids.   Have enough food ready for parents
• Kitchen Clean Up  – After the meal during the WOW program and G2G
• •Artists/Helpers – Help plan, prepare and teach visual arts to workshops for pre-K – first and Second to Fifth graders. There will be a theme for each unit and curriculum to help the planning process.   6:30 – 7:30
• •Dancers – For future sessions, plan, teach and help kids participate in worship, 6:30 to 7:30
• •Actors and Directors – For future sessions, plan, teach and help kids prepare skits and plays for worship.

You can help any four Wednesdays that fit your schedule. The first sessions will be:

Sept 7, 21; and Oct. 5, 19 with participation in worship on Sept. 25 that includes the visual arts and the kids singing and whatever creativity happens.
