Directions to St. Andrews

On Saturday September 22nd, youth and adults from St. Andrews gathered at the Friends of Refugees Jolly Avenue Community Garden for the first phase of our congregation’s project there. The volunteers prepared the site, dug holes, poured concrete, and set the posts in place for a bus stop shelter. On October 20th, we will gather again to complete the project, building the structure and installing landscaping. Many of the refugees in Clarkston board buses each day, taking them to their jobs in poultry plants. This bus shelter and the fruit and shade producing plants that surround it, will offer our neighbors a break from the heat and a comfortable place to wait for the buses each day. If you’d like to know more about our neighbors in Clarkston, you can watch this short video that captures a bit of the beauty of this diverse community. For more information about mission activities at St. Andrews click here.

Partnering with Friends of Refugees is one way St. Andrews is living into God’s call for us to be good neighbors to the refugee community, through the generosity of the time, talent, and treasure that God has given us.
