We Welcome Rev. Dr. Davis to the Pulpit this Sunday

Preparing for Worship This Sunday is the Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost. Our scripture passages are Jeremiah 8:18-9:1 and John 14:15-27. The Rev. Dr Rebecca Davis will be preaching From Comfort to Advocate, and our hymns will be- If Thou but Trust in God to Guide Thee, For Everyone Born, and May the God of Hope Go with Us.

This Sunday, we welcome Rev. Dr. Davis, Associate Professor of Christian Education at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Charlotte, NC as our preacher. She serves on the National Committee on the Self-Development of People, which met in Atlanta this week. The committee is a ministry of the PC(USA) that affirms God’s concern for humankind, is dissatisfied with poverty and oppression, united in faith and action through sharing, confronting, and enabling by participating in the empowerment of economically poor, oppressed, and disadvantaged people, seeking to change the structures that perpetuate poverty, oppression and injustice.
