Potpourri Starts Study of Revelations Sunday, January 12

The Potpourri Sunday School Class is starting a new study book next Sunday, Breaking the Code Revised Edition (six sessions) exploring the book of Revelations. The authors, Dr. Bruce M. Metzger (PC USA,) – one of the world’s best-known scholars on the text of the New Testament – taught for many years at Princeton Theological Seminary and was Chairman of the NRSV Translation Committee; Dr. David A. deSilva (United Methodist Church) – attended Princeton Theological Seminary and earned his Ph.D. in Religion at Emory University and currently teaches New Testament and Greek at Ashland Theological Seminary. The Book of Revelation contains passages of great beauty and comfort, as well as passages that strike the casual reader as bizarre, bewildering, and sometimes frightening. Breaking the Code Revised Edition provides a trustworthy guide to the rich symbolism of this important biblical book and the solid scholarship in a non-academic style. This revised edition has updates based on current biblical research and additional teaching from David deSilva. We meet in room 116 in the Education Building at 9 am.
