SAPC Re-imagining/Re-opening Task Force

During the past months, as the Session has worked to guide our Church in dealing with the ever-shifting Covid-19 situation, it has become clear that we needed a resource group to assist us in coordinating and analyzing information being provided by government agencies, health care officials, and our own Presbytery. For that reason, we have put together a task force to help us move forward.

The task force will be led by Penny Bellinger, and includes Charlton Allen, Mike Bearden, Heather Morse, and Bob Weaver, with John McCrosky, Lonnette Bruce, and Jim Holler serving as consultants when needed. These individuals bring with them knowledge in the areas of medicine, insurance, law, microbiology, and administration, as well as the ministry of this congregation and the ins and outs of our physical campus.

Working together, the task force will establish a “big picture” of what re-opening the church’s facilities will entail, including developing the criteria needed for each step. They will advise the Session on actions and materials needed for safety, work with us to develop plans for communication, implementation and oversight of activities, and assist in identifying any new issues that develop. The Session, using their reports, will be responsible for making decisions at every step of our journey.
