Tour Oakland Cemetery Nov. 7th

Mark your calendars now for the next day trip of our Older Adult Ministry.. On November 7th be going to the Historic Oakland Cemetery to take a guided tour (either walking or in golf carts).  Oakland Cemetery is one of the largest cemetery green spaces in Atlanta, Georgia. It was founded as Atlanta Cemetery in 1850 on six acres of land southeast of the city. It was renamed in 1872 to reflect the large number of oak and magnolia trees growing in the area. Among the famous buried there are writer Margaret Mitchell, Mayor Maynard Jackson, golf legend Bobbie Jones and many more. Recorded indicate that more than 70,000 souls rest there.
