One of the walks passes the ruins of the old Decatur Waterworks, which is on the National Historic Registry.

If driving on your own, meet the group at the trail head, adjacent to the parking for the Tennis Center. See the trail map here. Afterwards we will share a meal together at La Parrilla Mexican Restaurant in the Toco Hills Shopping Center. Alternatively, you can just meet us at 12:00 for lunch.

Week 2: Trips, Retreats and Mission Trips This Sunday, November 12th, as part of the Vital Congregations Initiative we continue celebration of what God has done through St. Andrews in retreats, church trips and mission projects. Did you participate in the mission to Jamaica in 1989 or to Appalachia in 1988, or some other mission trip? Do you remember the homebuilding mission project for Linda & Quiaina’s house in 1987, or various choir or Session retreats? If you have memorabilia from any similar events in our history, or other notable moments that are especially important to you, bring them this Sunday; and, during the Offering place them on the table timeline exhibit as we continue our focus on who St. Andrews has been in the past.

As part of the Vital Congregations Initiative, throughout November St. Andrews collectively ponders “Who we have been;” revisiting our history and heritage through an in-sanctuary historical exhibit. On the first three Sundays of November, congregants themselves will progressively build the commemorative exhibit during the worship service as they bring forward their historical offerings — artifacts, mementos, and important dates — to the table time-line exhibit.

This Sunday, November 5th, we begin constructing the exhibit by writing on the table timeline our membership anniversary dates. Be here for Sunday’s worship service to make sure your family’s name is written on the year you joined St. Andrews and celebrate with us all that God has done here these last 63 years! The following two Sundays we will add artifacts and mementos focusing on church trips and retreats on November 12th; and November 19th on weddings, baptisms, funerals and other sacred ceremonies.

Help for the Caregiving Years, November 4th Join us for this free and informative event at St. Andrews this Saturday from 9:00 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. There will be two keynote addresses by nationally known speaker, Denise M. Brown, booths from community partners, and the opportunity to sign up for a virtual dementia tour by Second Wind Dreams. Breakfast and Lunch are provided. There is no need to register, just come!
