Summer Vespers Services

Please join us for a series of Vespers services this summer on Sunday evenings at 5:00, on July 9th, July 23rd, and August 12

The services will be led by our seminary intern, Colleen Cook, and will take place in the youth lounge.  We will explore the practice of Evening Prayer using liturgy with a variety of language.  Our first service will employ the Book of Common Prayer from the Anglican tradition, the second will be the Service of Light from the current PCUSA Book of Common Worship, and the third will use contemporary Vespers liturgy from the Iona Community and other sources.

We will reflect on this ancient practice, on nightfall, and on the language we use when we talk to God.

Community Mission Service Project  Drop donations  ofnew school supplies for the NETWorks Cooperative Ministry Good Neighbor Back to School Shop, that allows parents a dignified, affordable way to provide for their families. Drop boxes (with lists of needed items, too) will be in the Narthex Sunday, July 2 – Sunday, July 23.  Shopping for families in need will be from July 29-30 – in the gym of Tucker First Baptist Church.

Filming continues in Heffner Hall this week and will be followed by a few days of strike and clean-up. This is considered a “live set” so we ask that you not try to enter Heffner hall even if it is after hours of filming.

There will be no parking on the administration building side of the church today and tomorrow. The lot will be cleared for Saturday’s Memorial Service.

We appreciate your patience with this. Clean-up in Heffner Hall should be complete by Tuesday morning, June 27.

We are blessed with many long-time and faithful members at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.  In June three of these members have gone to the church eternal and we mourn and celebrate their lives.  In sure and certain hope of the Resurrection through our Lord Jesus Christ, St. Andrews’ congregation extends sympathy to the families of Margaret Mueller, Ellen Halvorsen, and Marian Selby.

Margaret Mueller’s memorial service was held Tuesday, June 20.

Saturday we will comfort and celebrate with the family of Ellen Halvorsen whose service is Saturday, June 24 at 2 p.m.  There will be a reception in the Youth Lounge after the service for friends and family.

Memorial Services for Marian are planned for the afternoon of Saturday, July 8th. We will send further information when we have coordinated with her family.
