On Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14, St. Andrews joins with other Presbyterian churches in Georgia in the Mother’s Day Offering for the Presbyterian Homes of GA Caring Hands Fund.  This fund provides exceptional care to more than 400 older residents, mostly widows, who have simply outlived their savings.  This ministry provides for them as they live out their lives in peace and dignity.

Volunteer for a shift at St. Andrews’ booth! From 9 am to 5 pm, we’ll be sharing the great news of our welcoming congregation with our neighbors, inviting them to our family-friendly summer activities, and helping children make their own harmonicas! To sign up for a shift, contact Paige Kubik through the office , or click here to sign up online. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090b44aead2ba46-tucker

The last WOW of the school year!
WOW & G2G Kids Wednesday, May 10th we will have a kid-friendly meal at 6 pm, with a program for adults and worship arts workshops for the kids after dinner. Adults pay $5 for the meal, but the kids eat free.   After dinner, all ages will spend some time celebrating the end of the school year and looking ahead to summer. We’ll even make “Take Out Church” Kits. Join us as we celebrate all God has done and is doing! Everyone is dismissed by 7:30 p.m.

Everyone is invited to a church-wide shower Sunday, May 7 at 11 am, in the Youth Lounge to celebrate the anticipated arrival of Landon’s little brother to Shelley Thompson and Leigh Ann Millican. We can’t wait to welcome a new baby to our congregation.

Please RSVP by contacting Phyllis Bearden through the office.

Coffee, tea and chocolate…none of these foods can be grown in the US, so all are imported. As a result, US consumers are particularly disconnected from the sources of these staples of our 21st-century diet and the farmers who grow them.

Equal Exchange Co-op and the Presbyterian Coffee Project offer a connection.

People of faith can live out their values by choosing to connect with farming families through purchases of fairly traded and organic products. These purchases enable farming communities to benefit from democratically run cooperatives, provide for their families, stay on their land, build a business and improve their communities. Products that are organically grown require farmers to raise crops sustainably thus restoring and preserving our planet. Farmers protect and improve forest cover and habitat for migratory birds and other wildlife through shade farming. They preserve local river water quality, improving the soil and preventing erosion. They keep toxic pesticides and chemical fertilizers out of the land and water as they green our planet and build a better future.

The St. Andrews quarterly sale of coffee and tea is in progress. Use forms in the narthex or contact Mary Evans, through the church office. (office@standrewspresbyterian.org)

Place orders by May 14.

THANK YOU for supporting farming families around the world.

Francine Elle (right) and Judi Caellar Zeugang (left) joined us at the session meeting on April 23rd by reaffirmation of faith.
Both come from the Republic of Cameroon, where they speak French, and were raised in the Presbyterian Church there. Francine moved to the Atlanta area five years ago to study and is completing her degree in Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech. Judi also moved here to continue her education. We’re glad to have them both at St. Andrews

May 7th will be Michael’s last Sunday at St. Andrews. Last September, Michael began serving as our school-year intern with the intention of getting more experience with preaching and worship, adult and children’s education, and administration. We have been blessed by his presence among us as he has planned and led worship, taught an Advent adult Sunday school class and WOW, led chapel for the children in our weekday school, and worked behind the scenes with the annual budget and other office and administrative processes. In the next few weeks Michael will be finishing up his second year at Columbia Theological Seminary. This summer he will participate in an intensive course of Clinical Pastoral Education and chaplaincy in the Emory Healthcare system. We wish Michael all the best in the next part of his journey and look forward to seeing where God takes him as he follows the call to ministry.

One of the Tucker  non-profit organizations dear to the heart of St. Andrews is FODAC, Friends of Disabled Adults and Children, a nonprofit organization providing more than $10 million annually in durable medical equipment and supplies to those living with disability.  This family-friendly event is one of their main fundraisers.  Participants can ran, walk or roll through the course; wheelchairs, strollers and walkers are welcome.

Our Engagement Ministry wants to make sure you know about the great summer planned at St. Andrews, from Lemonade in the Shade to hoedowns to carnivals.  Let your friends and neighbors know that a loving community welcomes them.
