We will take a special offering Sunday, April 16 for One Great Hour of Sharing. It will provide mission funds for disaster assistance, help alleviate hunger and systemic causes of poverty, and is an investment in community responses and the education of Presbyterians to experiences of social injustice.

Bring your children, grandchildren or neighbor kids to St. Andrews tomorrow for our annual Easter Egg Hunt.

The program starts in Heffner Hall at 10 a.m. with snacks  and stories.  Then the kids divide into younger and older groups to hunt eggs in the courtyard (for the youngest kids) and on the front lawn for all others.

Our youth have prepared the eggs and they are ready to hide them.  It’s always fun!

Potpourri Sunday School Class: is beginning a four-week discussion of the book The Holy Spirit by Hauerwas and Willimon next Sunday, April 23rd. Books are available, if desired, from Cokesbury or Amazon. However, no reading is required; see the Sunday School web page for a class schedule with scripture list and notes. Contact Mike Bearden with any questions.

Potpourri meets in the Education Building, room 116.

Youth Sunday is scheduled for Sunday, April 30. The Youth will lead our worship service, and we’ll be recognizing all our graduating seniors.

As we continue through the season of Lent I hope you will join us for our special services of worship during Holy Week. The week begins with Palm Sunday on April 9th. In worship, we’ll wave palms and shout “Hosanna!” We will remember Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and then turn toward the passion of Good Friday.

On Thursday, April 13th at 6:00 p.m. we will have a different kind of worship service for Maundy Thursday. We will gather in Heffner Hall to worship, share a meal, and remember the acts of Jesus during Holy week. We will begin with opening words of worship. Then we will share a simple meal together around tables, like Jesus did with his friends. After we eat we’ll listen to scripture and a meditation. We call this day “Maundy Thursday”, from the Latin word mandatum, which means “mandate” or “command.” We remember that is the day when Jesus washed his disciples’ feet and commanded them to love one another. All are invited to participate in the foot washing, but it is not required. After we have heard the word and washed each other’s feet we will move up to the sanctuary where we will continue our worship in the Taizé style, celebrate the Lord’s Supper, and offer prayers at the cross.

On Good Friday, April 14th at 7:00 p.m. we will join with Oglethorpe and Shallowford Presbyterian Churches for a Tenebrae worship service. The pastoral and music staff of St. Andrews, Oglethorpe and Shallowford will lead worship together in the sanctuary at Shallowford Presbyterian (2375 Shallowford Rd, NE Atlanta 30345). This service will lead us through Jesus’ last days before his crucifixion. We will leave in darkness as we await the joy and light of Easter morning’s celebration of the resurrection.
We hope you will join us for Holy Week as we prepare for Easter

Join us for a 6 week parenting enrichment series with Sarah ‘Say’ Spencer, LCSW from Thornwell’s Building Families. Classes will be held in the Meeting Room at SAPC Mondays, 6-8 pm, April 17 through May 22.
