Join us for dinner Wednesday, May 11th,  at 6pm in Heffner Hall. After dinner, adults and children will split for programming. The cost is $5 per adult. Kids under 12 eat free.
Final WOW of the year!  We will gather for dinner at 6 and then the kids will briefly gather to prepare for leading worship on May 15th.  Then we will all gather for time together to celebrate the year of WOW with fellowship and games.

Continuing the Caring For Creation effort to collect used sneakers at our Race for Grace, you too can help the planet. St. Andrews is still collecting used, clean sneakers for Creative Community Services. These sneakers help foster kids and disabled adults. There’s a box in the narthex labeled sneakers where you can place your donation.

On Sunday, May 8, along with more than 200 Presbyterian churches in Georgia, St. Andrews will continue our long-time participation as a congregation in the special Mother’s Day Offering.  This special offering supports the “Caring Hands Fund” for Presbyterian Homes of Georgia.

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) receives the Pentecost Offering each spring to celebrate the arrival of the Holy Spirit as a bringer of new life. This offering focuses on helping young people begin life with a strong start – a solid foundation of faith formed in the first third of life. Gifts to this offering provide opportunities for young adult service, ministries with youth and ministries that improve education and safe havens for children across the globe. Please give generously as 40% stays within our congregation for the benefit of St. Andrews youth!

For the past 8 years Riverview Farms in Jasper, GA has delivered organic, locally grown produce for pick up at St. Andrews. Riverview, a medium sized family farm, practices Full-Circle Farming…the land supports livestock and the livestock supports the land by building soil fertility for growing all of the animals’ feed as well as produce.
Each year the farm grows over 30 different types of produce and some fruit. By working with other sustainable and organic farms Riverview is able to provide interesting boxes of food, typically 5-7 different items each week, over a period of 30 weeks, May to December. Known as the CSA, this program provides quality, healthy, locally raised organic food each week for families in the community.
Prices per box range from $26-$30. Pick up is at St. Andrews each Wednesday afternoon starting May 18. Half shares are available at this pick up site. Payment is in advance.  See the poster in the narthex or talk to Mary Evans for more information.
Join us May 22nd after worship for our Christian Education Appreciation lunch and Celebration of Kristy Ray’s Ministry
As you all may know, Kristy Ray will soon be completing her time with us. She began as an intern in 2012 and was later hired as the part-time Directory of Children and Youth Ministries. We have been so blessed to have her at St. Andrews. She has brought her creativity, her passion for work with children and youth, and her ability to get things done. Kristy has generously shared much more than is in her job description because it’s what she loves to do. With performance as proclamation, expanded art with children, pastoral care, and worship planning Kristy has gone above and beyond.
On Saturday, May 14th Kristy will graduate from Columbia Theological Seminary. She and her family will be moving on as she begins full-time ordained ministry (stay tuned for more details as she works through the call process). Kristy will be preaching on May 15th. Then on May 22nd we’ll get to say thank you to Kristy and to all the other Sunday school teachers and Christian Education leaders at a special luncheon.
If you would like to contribute to a love offering for Kristy you can make a gift to the church (put it in the offering plate or drop it by the office). Please note on the envelope or check memo that it is for the love offering.

On Sunday, May 8, 2016 (Mother’s Day) we will continue our long-time participation as a congregation in the special Mother’s Day Offering, with more than 200 Presbyterian churches in Georgia, in support of the Caring Hands Fund for Presbyterian Homes of Georgia.  Our gifts help to provide much needed exceptional nursing care and services to more than 400 elderly residents (mostly widows) who have outlived their financial resources, through no fault of their own, as they live out the remainder of their years in peace and dignity.

On Wednesday, April 27, after the WOW dinner at 6 p.m., Sarah (Say) Spencer will present a program about St. Andrews’ new partnership with the Building Families Program from Thornwell Home for Children.

Say, who is St. Andrews’ Building Families Specialist, will lead our program.  We will learn about the work she does with client families, how we can get involved, and opportunities for community outreach.

Coro Voci, a favorite choral group that practices at St. Andrews, will present a concert Sunday, May 22, at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary.  All the music, which emphasizes acapella performance, is centered around our celebration of Memorial Day, remembering all the lives sacrificed in war and looking forward to peace.
