SAS Spirit Night at Brusters, formerly scheduled for tonight, has been moved to April 23rd from 5pm to 8pm!
The SAPC Young Family Group has moved their outing to April 26th: The Young Family Group will be meeting on Sunday, April 26th immediately following the 11 o’clock service to have lunch in Decatur. Please note that the date has changed. An evite with more details will be sent, and childcare will be available. Contact Laura Moore to be added to the group.
Love movies? Want to talk about them? The Outreach Ministry is pleased to host an SAPC Movie Club on Wed, May 6, and Wed, May 20, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Meeting Room. Led by SAPC’s own David Dayoub (film critic for Indiewire, Slant Magazine, RoberEbert.com and his own blog, Cinema Viewfinder), the group will meet to talk about a selected movie and examine how the role of religion (or absence of it) affects the story. Group members will watch the movies on their own (via Netflix or library rental), and then meet to talk about them as a group and view specific clips from the movie to jump-start the discussion. Selected movies are: May 6 (DAYS OF HEAVEN, 1978), and May 20 (SHANE, 1953). Light refreshments will be provided. Childcare will be provided, but an RSVP is necessary. An RSVP is encouraged but not required with no childcare, and any questions can be directed to the Outreach Ministry (SAPCOutreach@gmail.com) or We’ll evaluate future movies/dates after we determine the level of interest. All ages welcomed and encouraged to join the discussion – bring your friends!
Our Youth Mission fundraiser is down to the deadline. The senior highs and middle schoolers need everyone’s support to make this big fundraiser a success. What you can do to help:
April 29th– To continue the conversation about caring for the Earth in our everyday lives, Caring for Creation will help us think about being good stewards of the Earth. Catered dinner by Greater Good BBQ. $8 for adults, $3 children, children under 3 are free. Family max $25.
On May 2 the Victory Liturgical Dance Team (part of Little Light of Mine) will perform to “Thrive” at the Special Olympics North America. This dedicated group rehearses in St. Andrews’ Heffner Hall every Monday night.
Please keep this wonderful group of God’s children in your prayers as they work on the final preparations for their performance on May 2nd. As strong and healthy as they are, it’s very easy for them to experience sudden illnesses. Let’s join together as we support and encourage them!
St. Andrews wonderful Children/Youth Program Director is getting married June 13 in her home church in Richmond, Virginia. For the past three years, St. Andrews Presbyterian has shared their palms with Little Light of Mine, a special needs group who have been together for more than 40 years. This year the church got a special thank you for the Eco-Palms we shared:
“Thank you so much for sharing palms with us on Palm Sunday!!! We always enjoy receiving them and hearing the story of Jesus riding the donkey into Jerusalem.”

This summer the youth will travel to Thornwell Home for Children in South Carolina. Founded as a Presbyterian ministry in 1875, Thornwell Home for Children is a joyful Christian community, offering hope and wholeness to children and families. Its goals are to provide loving homes for abused, abandoned and neglected children, to offer an opportunity for healing by providing proper healthcare and mental health counseling for every Thornwell child, and to offer Thornwell’s children hope for a successful future by providing educational support and teaching self-advocacy.
In 2016 the youth will travel to Honduras to serve HOI, Honduras Outreach, Inc. HOI is a Christ-centered short-term mission organization working alongside people of developing countries who desire to implement sustainable development partnerships. HOI works with local congregations to organize mission trips to Honduras and Nicaragua.
The HOI vision is to create life-changing relationships between the people of developing countries and North Americans, while promoting community directed and integrated spiritual, physical, educational and economic development of men, women and children in the developing world through the promotion of dignity, mutual cooperation and self-sufficiency.
