WOW: Are You Ready for a Miracle? Join us at WOW on March 11 as we look at scenes from the movie Leap of Faith starring Steve Martin and Debra Winger. Camille will lead the adults in an exploration of miracles and healing as we discuss scripture and this fun film.  Dinner will be potluck-comfort foods.  Bring a dish that brings you comfort and joy to share with others. If you don’t have time to cook come anyway, there is always plenty to share. Children will be with Kristy Ray during the discussion.

Following Jesus on his journey from baptism to the cross is what Lent is all about. But that journey is difficult for Jesus and for us today. So who,  besides Jesus, in the Gospel readings can we look to for discipleship lessons during Lent? The characters that appear beside Jesus in the Gospel stories can help show us what to do and what not to do. Each week during Lent we’ll see what these other characters have to teach us about Christ and the way of discipleship.

We at St. Andrews Presbyterian love this group of adults who practice here.  11 Alive featured them in a Christmas documentary, and the film was seen by more people than the station has experienced before.  Little Light is led by Linda Weaver, wife of Ed Weaver, our wonderful organist.  We love when Little Light leads our Worship Service, which will happen in June.

Enjoy this documentary.

St. Andrews is once again participating in the Chili Cook Off on Saturday, March 14.   This year our Outreach Ministry is working with St. Andrews School so that students from SAS can help prepare the chili and be involved in the process.  This is the third year our church has been involved in this fun local community event.  If you want to help with this project, please contact Marsha Ashby.

Our Outreach Ministry urges visitors and interested people to join them for a “Welcome to St. Andrews Reception/Information Session,” on Sunday, March 1, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. in the parlor, right off the Narthex/Lobby to the sanctuary.  Outreach always stresses a low-key, informal session for visitors to meet our new pastor, Camille LeBron Powell, learn more about our church, its programs/activities, and the Presbyterian faith.  Childcare is available, and registration is not required.  Any questions can be directed to the Outreach Ministry at SAPCoutreach@gmail.com.

Begin your Lenten Journey with a reflective and spiritual service on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.  This brief service points us in the spiritual direction for Lent and the time of examination and reflection before the wonderful celebration of Easter.  Anyone can attend and receive the sign of the cross with the ashes made from last year’s palms.  The ashes remind us that the celebration of palm Sunday led to the crucifixion on Good Friday.

Families and children are welcomed and loved.

Join your church family for a Pancake Supper on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m.  Meet friends and family in Heffner Hall for delicious pancakes, an easy supper, and fellowship with your friends and our youth.

Join students, friends and families from SAS on Thursday, Feb. 19, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Chick-fil-a for SAS spirit night.  Dine at the Chick-fil-a at the corner of Lawrenceville and Hugh Howell, see friends and families and help raise funds for our school.
