We’ve started serving coffee in the Narthex after the summer 10 a.m. service.  We try to be super casual in the summer months and this gives us time to talk and fellowship.  You can also find lemonade just outside the Narthex door on the portico because we know kids don’t drink coffee, and they love running around the courtyard in the summer.  So, relax on Sunday morning and don’t rush off to lunch.

The Music Ministry started raising the $6,200 on April 27 so that St. Andrews can order the new hymnal, Glory to God.  As of June 15th, we raised $6,400, which means we can add an online version.  What a generous and wonderful congregation!  Thank you all for the awesome support of the Music Ministry.

Kim Rometo, her mother and her aunt, were commissioned for the Zambia mission trip Sunday, June 15.  They will arrive in Africa sometime in the next 12 hours to work for the Alliance for Children Everywhere in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia.  The three are joining a larger group going on ZamJam 2014.  You can follow the adventures in the blog:

ZamJam2014

Since April 27, 2014, when we announced we wanted to purchase the new Presbyterian Hymnal, St. Andrews has raised $5,900 towards the goal of $6,000.  So many hymnals have been purchased to memorialize loved ones or to honor special saints in our lives.  Our Music Director, David Lukens, will order the hymnals to arrive in September to launch the Fall season at St. Andrews and in anticipation of a new pastor.

If you want to purchase a hymnal at $25 each to dedicate, please send a check to St. Andrews noting in the memo that the check is for Glory to God.  Please send the names you wish to honor so that your bookplate will be accurate.

On Thursday, June 19, from 5 – 8 p.m. at Brusters on Hugh Howell,  help the school raise money and get some delicious ice cream in the process.  Let’s eat as much as possible and bring all our friends and neighbors because 20% of the profits will benefit St. Andrews SchoolSpirit night for school 6-19-14

St. Andrews is pleased to announce its Screen on the Green summer movie series, to be held Friday, June 13, Friday, July 11, and Friday, August 8. On each night, we will show a fun, animated movie on the lawn in the inner courtyard area of the church. Families can bring picnics and blankets and enjoy a free movie on the lawn. The lawn “opens” at 7:45pm, movie starts at 8:30pm. Come join us, and bring your friends and neighbors! No pets, please. This event will be held rain or shine.  We’ll make every attempt to stay outside on the lawn unless it is raining or predicted to rain.  If the lawn is damp (but there is no rain), we will still likely be on the lawn.  So, please come prepared with blankets, chairs, and whatever else you will need.  In the event of rain, we’ll move inside to Heffner Hall. If you have additional questions, please contact SAPCoutreach@gmail.com or the contact the church office at 770-938-2833. We hope to see you there!

It was a wet, wonderful and successful evening!  The fundraising goal for the first Tucker Relay for Life was $5,000, and we almost tripled that – $14,000 at last count.  All the volunteers and walkers who made this event successful thank all of you for donating to this first St. Andrews initiative for Relay for Life.

Our troops are setting up at Tucker High School and the band is warming up.  If it rains, we’ll party in the parking deck so com eon out.

Join us for the first Tucker Relay for Life on Friday evening, May 30, at 5 p.m.  St. Andrews, along with other churches in the Tucker area, is sponsoring the first ever relay at Tucker High School Track.  The survivors and caregivers  reception starts at 5 p.m. with the Relay kicking off at 6 p.m.  Enjoy entertainment, games, fun, food and special ceremonies during the evening.  At the end of the relay, our lighted luminaries will line the track in memory and in honor of loved ones who have felt the impact of cancer.  One last walk around the track will be to the accompaniment of bagpipes.

These Relays are all about raising awareness and funds for cancer research.  Go to our Relay for Life to donate or to join the SAPC team.  For more information on how to get involved, contact our office at office@standrewspresbyterian.org for information on our members sponsoring this Relay.

The Caring for Creation Team has two announcements:

Our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) delivered from Riverview Farms begins on May 28th.  Make sure you sign up to receive your fresh produce every Wednesday.

Now is the time to order your fair-trade coffee and tea.

For either opportunity, contact Mary Evans or members of the Caring for Creation Team.
