Easter Sunday, April 17

Flowering of the Cross, Courtyard

We invite you to bring flowers from home or your yard, make a flower, or use the flowers available at the church to adorn the cross in the courtyard. This sixth-century tradition of flowering the cross is an especially striking and beautiful way to symbolize the new life that emerges from Christ’s death on Good Friday.

Worship in the Garden, 8:30 a.m.

“Early in the morning of the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.” (John 20:1) Early in the morning, you are invited to gather in the courtyard for an outdoor Easter worship service. In the event of rain, we will gather under the shelter of the covered breezeway. Click here for the bulletin.

Fellowship in the Courtyard 9:00-10:00 a.m. Easter Breads is a St. Andrews tradition sharing fellowship, coffee, and pastries on Easter morning. This year we’re adding crafts and activities for our children, including an egg hunt, too. Please plan to join us and if you are able, bring your favorite pastry or bread to share.

Worship 10:00 a.m. We’ll celebrate the resurrection and sing “Alleluia” in worship together, meeting in the Sanctuary and on YouTube Live. Rev. Camille will be preaching Go and Tell. Our scripture passages are Romans 10:1-17 and John 20:1-18 and our hymns are: Jesus Christ Is Risen TodayThine Is the Glory and Christ Is AliveClick here for a copy of the bulletin.

Good Friday, April 15

This Tenebrae worship service is based on ancient church traditions. Click here for the bulletin. Tenebrae is a Latin word that means “darkness” or “shadows.” The service comes from the monastic tradition where Tenebrae was the last service on the eves of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday, along with other daily worship. A significant feature of a Tenebrae service is the gradual extinguishing of the lights and candles in the room during the retelling of Jesus’ last days. Join us in the Sanctuary or on YouTube Live at 7:30 p.m.

Maundy Thursday, April 14
We will gather in the courtyard breezeway, weather permitting (in Heffner Hall if raining), to worship, share a meal, and remember the acts of Jesus during Holy Week. Our worship will include prayer, scripture, songs, a simple dinner, and the celebration of the Lord’s Supper woven together. We call this day “Maundy Thursday,” from the Latin word mandatum, which means “mandate” or “command.” We remember that is the day when Jesus gave his disciples a new commandment, to love one another. All ages are welcome. For food planning purposes, please let us know if you plan to participate by Monday 4/11 by contacting the church office or responding online at this link.
