Over the years, you and your members have helped our Good Neighbor Christmas Shop provide Christmas gifts for families at a price they can afford. This year, as in 2020, things are different. We have determined that we cannot safely hold our usual shopping type event (as much as for the safety of volunteers as the shopping public). But, we still want to help families provide for themselves at this time of year and hopefully avoid a financial emergency because of Christmas shopping.
We will again do a few things that we would like to ask your help with:
- For standard visitors to our pantry (not the general public), we would like to provide a $15 grocery gift card (Kroger/Publix/Walmart) for the family’s dinner. We will provide multiples of these cards depending on the size of the family.
- Also for standard visitors to the pantry (not the general public), we would like to provide a $25 gift card to Walmart or Target for each child in the household (we will set a maximum, probably 4 or 5 children).
- We would like to include a Christmas card, signed, for each family when we provide the gift cards.
- To clarify, we aren’t asking for re-purposed or blank cards. We would like to put the gift cards (above) in a greeting card that has a nice message (from you) to the neighbor receiving the card. The message should be a typical Christmas greeting like you would put in a Christmas card you send to your friends.
- All of this distribution will take place during our standard pantry hours, W/F/Sat 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
If your church members would like to participate, we would love donations of gift card. We will start distributing these December 1. We can accept donations after that date, but would like gift cards and greeting cards by then.
We would also ask that your members buy or make Christmas cards, add a message, and provide those to us in an unsealed envelope (so we can add the appropriate gift cards).
If folks prefer to donate online and we purchase the gift cards, they can give at https://bit.ly/GNX2021. Any size donation is very much appreciated!
