Big Table Big Table for Advent continues on Wednesday, December 11 at 5:45 p.m. This week is our annual Christmas Party. Join us for our inter-generational dinner, fellowship, and learning. All ages are welcome. Dinner is free this week with a turkey dinner from Magnolia.. Please contact the office, or Merle Westbrook to let us know you’re coming, 770-934-4735.

This Week in Worship We will celebrate communion in worship this Sunday, the second Sunday of Advent. Rev. Camille is preaching, and her sermon is entitled Repentance Can’t Wait. Our scripture passages are Isaiah 11:1-10 and Matthew 3:1-12. Our hymns will be: O Come, O Come EmmanuelPrepare the Way, O Zion, and We Wait the Peaceful Kingdom.

Youth The youth will meet at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8th for an extended music time and supper. Bring your instruments and a friend. Contact John McCrosky with any questions.

Special Offering

Our congregation will participate in the PC (USA) Christmas Joy Special Offering on Sunday, December 8, in support of the PC (USA) Board of Pensions, which helps support past and present church workers and their families who are facing critical financial circumstances. This offering also benefits the education and development of our future leaders at Presbyterian-related racial ethnic schools and colleges.

Presbyterian Women

All the women of St. Andrews are invited to attend the next meeting of the Presbyterian Women on Tuesday, December 17 at 10:00 a.m. in the Meeting Room. After Bible Study, there will be a covered dish lunch at someone’s home nearby. Stay tuned for details!

The PW is also collecting items for Creative Community Services‘ Secret Santa Gift Shop. They are in need of Christmas Gift Bags, tissue paper, and new or gently used items (under $5). Click here for a more complete list. There will be a box in the work room at SAPC for collecting these items. Please bring them to the work room by December 11th.

Volunteers are welcome to come on Saturday, December 14 from 11am-1pm to help wrap gifts for CCC’s Secret Santa Gift Shop.

Lessons & Carols

Sunday, December 22nd, 6:30 p.m.

Join us for a family candlelight Worship service of Scripture and music preparing for the celebration of our Lord’s birth with carols for choirs, instruments, handbells and the congregation. A Christmas Cookie reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall. Bring your friends and neighbors and share the good news of Christ’s coming. Childcare Provided.

Big Table for Advent begins on Wednesday, December 4.  Join us for our inter-generational dinner, fellowship and learning.   All ages are welcome.  Dinner is from local restaurants for a cost of $10 for adults, $5 for kids age 5-12, and free for kids under 5.  Family price max is $20.  We start at 5:45 p.ml with dinner, and then 6:20 to 6:35 p.m. we have a fellowship activity.   Starting at 6:35 to 7:30 p.m. programs are held for children, youth, adults with childcare for infants and toddlers.  You don’t have to RSVP, but it sure does help.  Please contact the office or Merle Westbrook to let us know you’re coming.

The Older Adults and Caregivers Ministry is heading to the Nativity exhibit at Epiphany Church and will have lunch at Mary Mac’s in Atlanta.  We’ll meet in the church parking lot at 9:30 a.m. on December 13th and take the vans or carpool.  We’ll return to the church by 2:00 p.m.   There is a sign up sheet in the narthex or contact Pat Baker at 770-938-2833 ext. 11.

Nativity Exhibit information

In sure and certain hope of the Resurrection through our Lord Jesus Christ, St. Andrews’ congregation extends sympathy to the family of Bona Puckett, who died on November 24.

Visitation will be at Floral Hills at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, followed by a memorial service at Floral Hills at 11:00 a.m. (3150 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, GA 30084)

Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord; they rest from their labors and their works follow them.

 

St. Andrews Presbyterian Church

Christmas Tree Lot Boy Scout Troop 129 is selling trees and wreaths at St. Andrews again this year, beginning Saturday, November 23. The troop travels to select and cut the trees each year and this is the major fund-raiser for their troop. Please see their sign for the days and hours they are selling each day.
