We are collecting new toys for NETWorks’ Good Neighbor Christmas Shop in the Narthex beginning this Sunday, through Sunday, December 1st. The toys will be sold at affordable prices to low-income parents in our community, allowing them to provide Christmas gifts for their families. Toys are not given away, believing families prefer to provide for themselves. This assists in preserving the pride and dignity of the family. Click here more information. Please contact Paul Ellingson with any questions, 770-310-8396.

The PC (USA) joins with people and groups across the U.S. in Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week and designates Sunday, November 17, 2019 as Hunger and Homelessness Sunday. During this season of gratitude, we are challenged as a congregation to raise up the crisis of hunger and homelessness during worship on this Sunday. Please see Sunday’s bulletin inserts to learn more about the extent of these problems in our country and the world, to learn about many of the agencies and activities that our congregation supports in helping to end these problems, and to learn about additional ways that you can take action and share God’s love and belonging with those in need in our communities.

We will continue our series, Grateful, this Sunday. Rev. Camille is preaching, and her sermon is entitled “For Everyone.” Our scripture passages are Micah 6:1-8 and Matthew 5:1-12. Our hymns will be- All Things Bright and Beautiful, Blest Are They, and O for a World.

Potpourri starts a new study from “Old Testament Stories from the Backside”, J. Ellsworth Kalas, There will be three lessons starting on Nov 10, 2019 and ending on Nov 24, 2019. You are welcome to attend the class and listen to/participate in the discussions without reading the study book or the scripture readings.A PDF copy of the class calendar w/scripture list and a copy of this study supplement are also available on the SAPC Sunday School web page and from Mike Bearden in class. Save the Date – November 24th

If you’re missing America’s favorite neighbor since our series last fall, you’ve got another opportunity to spend some time with Mr. Rogers and your church family. Tom Hanks is starring in a new movie, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, opening later this month. The details are still in the works, but let’s plan to load up the church buses and see a matinee showing together at the Movie Tavern just down the road on Sunday, November 24th. Stay tuned for more information. If you have any questions please contact the office. Here’s a link to the trailer if you haven’t seen it yet.

You, too, can be ready for the holidays by ordering coffee, tea and chocolate through the Presbyterian Coffee Project before November 10! The Authentic Fair Trade model used by this project makes a positive impact on small scale farmers’ livelihoods, on the health of the earth and it leads to improved food quality. Buyers communicate regularly with producers, building direct and longstanding relationships and staying current about growing conditions that may affect the products. Project partners grow on land that they control, giving them a vested interest in using sustainable and organic methods, avoiding chemicals, and keeping the soil rich for many years to come. Agronomists within the farmer co-ops bring specialized technical training to bear and the cooperative structure encourages farmers to share information about cultivation practices that improve harvest and yield.

This holiday season support Authentic Fair Trade and small farmers by buying their top-notch products through the Presbyterian Coffee Project. Order forms are available here or in the Narthex on Sunday. Contact Mary Evans, 770-4934989 to order.
