The PC (USA) joins with people and groups across the U.S. in Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week and designates Sunday, November 17, as Hunger and Homelessness Sunday. During this season of gratitude, we are challenged, as a congregation, to raise up the crisis of hunger and homelessness during worship on this Sunday. Please click here to learn more about the extent of these problems in our country and the world, and to learn about additional ways that you can take action and share God’s love and belonging with those in need in our communities.

All the women of St. Andrews are invited to attend the next meeting of the Presbyterian Women on Tuesday, November 19 at 10:00 a.m. in the Meeting Room. After Bible Study, there will be time for fellowship and refreshments. For more information about the Presbyterian Women, please contact Jackie Harper, 770-934-3463.

The PW are also sponsoring 2 collection projects. First, for Presbyterian Homes, they are collecting new items for Santa to deliver to the residents including: toiletries, socks, pajamas, and craft items.  There will be a box in the work room at SAPC for donations. Donations are due by December 1st.

The PW is also collecting items for Creative Community Services‘ Secret Santa Gift Shop. They are in need of Christmas Gift Bags, tissue paper, and new or gently used items (under $5). Click here for a more complete list. There will be a box in the work room at SAPC for collecting these items. Please bring them to the work room by December 11th.

I often hear from older adults that they want to stay in their own homes as they age but feel it might not be safe or it is no longer accessible as they experience some mobility challenges. If that is something that you’ve thought then you might consider attending the information session offered on November 19, 2019 in the meeting room after the Presbyterian Women from noon until 1:00 p.m. Dennis Lippy from Home Free Home Modification will be our program speaker. He is an “Aging in Place Specialist” with AARP’s HomeFit program. Each person will receive the AARP HomeFit Guide that was created to help people stay in the home they love by turning where they live into a “lifelong home,” suitable for themselves and anyone in their household. The guide offers solutions that range from simple do-it-yourself fixes to improvement that require skilled expertise. Please call 770-938-2833 ext. 111 or email Pat Baker to register for this information session.

In sure and certain hope of the Resurrection through our Lord Jesus Christ, St. Andrews’ congregation extends sympathy to the family of Lisa Temples, who died on October 22.

A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.

Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord; they rest from their labors and their works follow them

Our October session concludes this Wednesday, October 23.  Join us for dinner, fellowship, and learning.

The Glory 2 God Kids have something special in mind to celebrate their liturgical play and to show gratitude.  You won’t want to miss it.

Kirking of the Tartans Join us for our annual celebration of the Kirking of the Tartans at St. Andrews on Sunday, October 27. With Bagpipes, tartans, special music and liturgy, we celebrate the Scottish roots of our Reformed faith. While our members come from a wide diversity of countries and ethnicities, the Presbyterian Church traces its roots back to Scotland. We are all children in God’s family, brothers and sisters in Christ, no matter our lineage- and we are all families in the clan of St. Andrews. On the Sunday when we celebrate our Reformed and Scottish heritage we also celebrate that the Gospel was not confined to Nazareth; that the good news continued to spread to Scotland, to the United States, and around the world. On October 27, everyone is invited to wear something that represents and celebrates their heritage, whether it be a tartan, Kente cloth, or cowboy boots!

There will be a shortbread reception in Heffner Hall following worship. Join us for a wee cupa tee and some shortbread after worship. Everyone is invited to bring their favorite version of shortbread, whether home-made or from the store. Click here if you can lend a hand with the reception, or leave a message for Heather Morse at 770-395-6531.
