The 39ers is a group of folks who like to meet and fellowship together. They will meet on Monday, May 6th at Bambinelli’s and everyone is welcome to join them. (3202 Northlake Parkway 30345)

Older Adult Christian Ministry (OACM) News
During the month of May the Presbyterian Church (USA) celebrates Older Adults by designating May 5th as Older Adult Sunday. This is an opportunity for us to celebrate the contributions that older adults have made and are currently making in the life of our congregation.

On May 16, from 10-Noon we are hosting a workshop called Dementia 101 in the Meeting Room, lead by Jim Fox of dementiaATLANTA.

This Sunday is the Third Sunday of Easter we will be celebrating communion in Worship. Our scripture passages are Psalm 30 and John 21:1-19. Our hymns are: The King of Love My Shepherd Is, My Shepherd Will Supply My Need, and Called as Partners in Christ’s Service.

Change for Children We will take our monthly offering for the Alliance for Children Everywhere next Sunday. Please bring in your change on May 5th.

Join us for this summer’s inter-generational mission trip, June 21-27, at the Calvin Center. Participants, including children who can work under your supervision, will be working on camp repairs and clean up. There will also be time for fellowship and recreational activities. Youth in 6-12th grades may attend without a parent. The cost is $50/day per person, for lodging and meals. Since the Calvin Center is only an hour south of Atlanta, you may choose the days you are able to attend. All skill levels are welcome. An online registration is available now. Click here to register for the trip. Please contact Josh Price 770-921-1231 or John McCrosky for more information. You may also contact John for information about scholarships for the mission trip.

The Inviting Church

Presbyterians are not known for being good at inviting people to church. We tend to think that’s not our style. But why not? And really, why church, if you don’t want to invite people?

Inspired by the article “We Will No Longer Be a Welcoming Church” by Rev. Dr. Robert G. Moss, a Lutheran pastor in Colorado, we’ll spend 3 weeks exploring why and how to be an inviting church. Click here to read the article. For the adult learning portion of Big Table, we will spend the first three weeks exploring what it means to be a part of church, what scripture and tradition teach us about church, how you feel connected to and/or disconnected from the church, ways to connect at St. Andrews, and we’ll playfully (no pressure) practice going public with our faith. Rev. Camille will be leading the adult program. The children will also be engaging in some of this in their own way.

Each week we gather for a catered meal around the big table. We’ll have some mission components and some time for an inter-generational activity. Then we split up with the children going to Glory to God worship arts program and the adults having their own time of learning together. On the last week of the session, May 22nd, we’ll have an inter-generational celebration of the end of the school year to get us ready for the summer.
