NETWorks On Friday, March 8, volunteers with NETWorks Cooperative Ministry will be at Tucker Station Chick-fil-A, 4340 Hugh Howell Road, and Northlake Festival Chick-fil-A, 3967 Lavista Road, asking for financial donations to fight hunger and poverty in our community. The fundraiser lasts from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the owner of these restaurants will match donations dollar-for-dollar. If you can’t visit one of the restaurants, you can still contribute to the effort by texting CFANW to 44-321 or going online here. Tucker Chili Cook-Off Join us as we meet our Tucker neighbors and compete for the prize in Tucker’s annual Chili Cook-off on Saturday, March 9 from 1-5 pm. Click here to sign up to help set/up, clean up or volunteer for a 2 hour shift at St. Andrews’ booth. This year the Chili Cook-off benefits the Day League, which is dedicated to helping survivors of sexual violence.

DeKalb Hazardous Waste Event March 16 from 8 a.m. – noon, at 3720 Leroy Scott Drive, Decatur, GA 30032 for DeKalb residents. Paint (10 gal. max) and paint-related products, aerosols, batteries, adhesives, flammables, lawn care products, fluorescent light bulbs, photo chemicals and artist supplies will be accepted. Unacceptable items include agricultural waste, ammunition, pharmaceuticals, radioactive materials, bio-hazardous and biomedical waste. Please click here for more information.

39ers The 39ers is a group that likes to meet and eat and fellowship together. They will meet for lunch on Monday, March 4th at 11:45 a.m. at The Crossing in Norcross, and everyone is welcome to join in the fun. (40 S. BIG TABLE – Ten days to go until our first Big Table of the new year!  This quarter we will be supporting a different St. Andrews mission project each week.  Week 1 we will be learning about re:loom, a part of Initiative for Affordable Housing.  Please bring washable and clean fabrics to donate.  T-shirts are fine, too, even if stained so long as they are clean.  Please see Merle Westbrook in the Narthex following Worship this morning to sign up for dinner on Wednesday, March 13.

Annual fundraiser on Saturday, March 16, 7 pm, at North Decatur Presbyterian Church, is for Shalom International Ministries (Shalom).  The fundraiser features performances from Executive Presbyter Aisha Brooks-Lytle, North Decatur Co-Pastor David Lewicki, and talented Presbyterians, and others, from all across Atlanta (including our own SAPC Friday Bell Ringers and a harp ensemble including a frequent guest singer/instrumentalist at SAPC, Kathe Gowland).  The funds raised will support members of their Youth Ministry attending the 2019 Montreat Youth Conference.  The fundraiser is hosted this year by North Decatur Presbyterian Church, 611 Medlock Road, Decatur, GA 30033, and will be held in the sanctuary beginning at 7 pm.  There is no admission cost.  If you desire to make a donation at the fundraiser to support sending these youth to the Montreat Youth Conference, you can donate by cash, check (made out to North Decatur Presbyterian Church with Shalom on the memo line), and by credit card.  Donation letters will be available at the fundraiser.  If you are unable to attend and want to donate you can send in a check (made out to New Church Development Commission with Shalom on the memo line) to Presbytery of Greater Atlanta, 1024 Ponce De Leon Avenue NE, Atlanta, GA 30306.  You can also make a donation at the Shalom website at www.shalominternationalministry.com/donate .

Shalom works to develop connections between refugee, immigrants and American families; and, between Shalom, churches, non-profits and community groups.  They provide opportunities for worship, education, hospitality and healing for refugee and immigrant communities in the area.  Their church partner primary connections include:  Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church who host and partner with Shalom for Sunday worship, North Decatur Presbyterian Church and Shallowford Presbyterian Church, who support and partner with Shalom in this ministry, and the New Church Development Commission [Presbytery of Greater Atlanta).

Potpourri Sunday School Class will begin a four-week study Feb. 24th: Simon Peter, Flawed But Faithful Disciple by Rev. Adam Hamilton. Peter was just an ordinary guy who heard and followed God’s extraordinary call.
