We are excited to offer the opportunity to participate in a new confirmation program this year. We are making this available to all youth from 6th through 12th grades who haven’t been through confirmation.
The main classes will be held on Sunday mornings in the youth lounge from 9 – 9:50 a.m.
The program will run from February 24 through June 9. A course outline with be available by the first class.
If you are interested in participating, please download the registration form, complete the first page and return to John by Sunday, February 3. The sooner the better!! Hold on to the second page for later.
On the form you will notice a box requesting names of individuals you think would be good matches for confirmation mentors. Please offer two or three suggestions, but don’t ask the potential mentors yourself. John will use the lists from each participant to match youth with the best adults. (John has found this to be a more helpful approach to ensure potential mentors are not asked by multiple youth and the proper commitment is understood from the adult mentors.)

Potpourri Sunday School class will begin the book Anxious to Talk About It, Helping White Christians Talk Faithfully About Racism, Rev. Carolyn B. Helsel (PC USA pastor and professor), 01/13/19 – 02/17/19. If talking about racism makes you anxious, afraid, or even angry, you’re not alone. Rev. Helsel draws on her success with white congregations to offer insight and tools to embrace, explore and work through the anxious feelings that often arise in these hard conversations. A study guide is available on the SAPC Sunday School web page; e-books and paperback books available from Amazon and Cokesbury. Questions – Mike Bearden, 404-660-8234; michaelrbearden@bellsouth.net .
If you know what a computer looks like, you can help run our audio-visual equipment on Sunday morning. With a little training and mentoring you’ll be the envy of your friends as you sit at the console helping St. Andrews run a smooth worship service each Sunday. Once you’re confident on the AV board, you’ll be on a schedule to serve once every six weeks – not an arduous task! Since two of the favorite AV Techs moved to Miami, we really need a few eager (or not eager) volunteers to help out. We will have a training session after worship on Sunday, Feb. 3. Once you’ve had training, another AV tech will mentor you for a few Sundays to help you learn the process. Contact Phyllis Bearden at pbearden47@bellsouth.net or 404-580-8679 or just wave during worship to sign up.
