We will have Sunday School before and fellowship after worship on Zoom conference. The links for Sunday are below. We will post the recording of our worship service on our website.

We are continuing our series God’s Story. Our Story. One Story. This week Rev. Camille is preaching on The Second Helvetic Confession. You are invited to have your own bread and juice with you while you watch (or as close as you can get with what you have at home), so you can share communion around a great big virtual table. Our hymns will be I Greet Thee, Who My Sure Redeemer Art and We All Are One in Mission. Our scripture passages are Colossians 1:15-20 and 1 Corinthians 3:9-17. Sunday’s bulletin is attached here

With DeKalb County’s decision to go back to school online only starting in mid-August, NETWorks has finally  been able to solidify our plans for the Good Neighbor Back to School Shop. With the complications caused by the coronavirus, they’re revamping the Shop completely. This year, NETWorks will be providing free supplies in a drive-thru style distribution. Using new backpacks filled with supplies, they can meet many of the supply needs. They’ll need to augment those supplies with some age-specific items.

Our Mission Ministry is asking your help in making this happen, and in a rather shortened timeline.NETWorks is planning to distribute the items Sunday, July 27.  It’s  easier to donate this year. SAPC members can donate to buy the backpacks and pre-packed supplies or they can send NETWorks  the few items listed below (mainly for K-2nd grades). A backpack full of supplies is $15

  • 8-10 count markers (broad tip)
  • Loose leaf paper (wide ruled)
  • 3- ring binders, 2”

All of this information and a donate button is available at www.networkscoop.org/bts. Donations can be made at https://bit.ly/BTS-Covid, set up specifically for the school event.

This Week in Worship It is the Seventh Sunday after Pentecost and we will celebrate worship in our homes via Facebook Live and YouTube. We will have Sunday School before and fellowship after worship on Zoom conference. The links for Sunday are below. We will post the recording of our worship service on our website.

We are continuing our series God’s Story. Our Story. One Story. This week Rev. Camille is preaching on the Heidelberg Confession. Our hymns will be Now Thank We All Our God and If Thou but Trust in God to Guide Thee. Our scripture passages will be Isaiah 2:2-4 and Romans 7:24-25. Sunday’s bulletin is attached here.

You Are A Coronavirus Hero!

Keep everyone safe—volunteers, visitors, staff—but the pantry will continue to operate.” That mandate guided all our actions. Ultimately, we moved the pantry to the parking lot.

You didn’t even wait for a call for help. You dropped off food. You mailed food to us. You made financial contributions to help your neighbor NOW. You had time at home—so you came and volunteered, filling the gaps left when our usual volunteers sheltered in place. Packing bags, moving thousands of pounds of food, working outside in wind, rain, and some gorgeous days.

The requests for food started building slowly. March was only a little busier than February, but we saw an uptick in new families visiting. Then April. Food requests doubled what we experienced just months earlier. First-time visitors up 340%. What did you do? You met the need. You sent more food—Amazon and Wal-Mart and UPS delivering box after box

You brought carloads of groceries, risking a trip to the grocery store …to feed your neighbor who couldn’t do that. You understood many people in our community had lost employment. You sent checks and made online donations—“Please use this gift to help those who are hurting,” you told us.

Requests for financial assistance grew—water bills, power bills, monthly rent—and your generosity allowed us to help more neighbors.

Not just more families, but at a higher level of assistance. In fact, we increased our financial assistance by 5 times each month. And doubled the maximum help per family. Your gifts relieved families of stress and worry about losing their homes. As your neighbor Juanita* called to say, “Thank you! I have been sick, had no money, and I truly appreciate this help. May God bless you! Thank you very much!”

We add a huge “Thank You” to Juanita’s! This community—you and people like you—is beautiful and loving. God Bless you and your family!
